Our team consists of some of the best and most innovative dancers and choreographers in Houston. Each staff member has been vetted to ensure their values align with our mission, vision, ethical and core values. As a result, we have created a staff of individuals whom are friendly, fun, warm, inviting and enjoy teaching students of all ages. Courtney White - Artistic Director
Courtney White relocated to Houston, Texas byway of Memphis, TN to pursue his dreams of becoming a business owner, further expand his career and experience in the Healthcare industry, and extend his dance abilities to new heights. Courtney encompasses nearly two decades of formal dance training and Courtney's core dance training and experience was received during his tenure on multiple prestigious dance organizations throughout Tennessee; including a well-known organization named Memphis Elite. With a humble heart, Courtney instills the core values, training, dance techniques, and discipline he has mastered over the years into each student by utilizing a fusion of innovative methods of dance-instruction. Additionally, Courtney works diligently to ensure our students are consistently challenged to exceed organizational expectations in all aspects. As a result of these goals Courtney pairs our students with some of the most talented and brightest dance instructors in Houston. Courtney has received dance training in the multiple areas of the Art-form and his specialties include: Jazz, Majorette (J-sette), Hip-Hop, and Contemporary styles of dance.

Danielle Myles - Office Manager
Danielle Myles (left) is a native of Birmingham, Alabama and is a graduate of Jacksonville State University where she received her Bachelors Degree in Computer Information Systems with a minor in Business Administration. Danielle is currently married to Anthony Myles and is a mother of one (Madison Myles (right), who has grown a high-passion for dance. Danielle joined the B,U, family as a dance mom in April 2016 and later accepted the role of Courtney's assistant shortly thereafter. Later, Danielle was promoted to office manager due to her noteworthy customer service skills, positive interactions with customers, likeable personality, and willingness to learn. As office manager Danielle performs a host of duties to ensure parents are always updated and will be your point of contact for making payments and answering any questions you may have.
Carmen Jones began studying ballet at age 5 at Lori’s Dance Studio in Houston, TX. After realizing her natural gift for movement, her parents enrolled her in the dance department at Johnston Middle School to continue dance studies. Carmen was then accepted into The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts where she studied with dance personnel from Houston Ballet, Hope Stone, Inc., Houston Metropolitan Dance Company, Joffrey Ballet, Paul Taylor Dance Company and many others. After graduating from HSPVA, Carmen accepted a performing arts scholarship in dance from Adelphi University in Garden City, NY. She obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance, and graduated with an internship at Houston Ballet. During her time at Houston Ballet and through mentorship from adorned Prima ballerina, Lauren Anderson, Carmen moved back to New York City to train with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Upon completion of her training with The Ailey School, Carmen returned to Houston where she now teaches ballet at B.U. For the Arts and has recently joined Urban Souls Dance Company.

Jonathan Harris (24). Started his dance training at an early age and received training from two Nationally recognized and award winning organizations whom both sent gymnasts to the Olympics. Jonathan first attended Cypress Dance Academy of Gymnastics and thereafter received additional tumbling training at Texas Cheer. Jonathon's talents, training, and dedication allowed him to prevail and to attain numerous trophies and medals throughout his gymnastics career. Jonathon's aspires to pass on these fun, strategic, yet practical and innovative methods associated with gymnastics and tumbling into the students of B.U. For The Arts Dance Studio. Additionally, Jonathan specializes in a historical Hip-Hop style called The Old-Way. Old-way Vogue is an underground competitive freestyle dance that originated in Harlem back in the late 70's by the LGBT ballroom community. It was recognized as an alter-ego expression through the use of model poses, hieroglyphics, gymnastics, ballet, breakdancing, and even flexibility through contortions of the body. Jonathon has traveled the country and won multiple awards in this category of the arts. The goal is to encompass fun and individuality through the teaching of this art.

Damion Sam is a Houston, Texas native born on June 26, 1993. Damion started dancing at the age of fifteen because of his divined passion for Dance and the Arts. Since that time, Damion has received extensive dance training in ballet, modern, jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop. As Damion progressed he realized the passion he has for teaching kids. As a result, Damion has instructed dance classes at many well-known dance institutions throughout the Houston area and has also performed in New York. Damion’s personal mission is to form dancers into artist with the tools they need to better the world we share with each other. Damion is loved and respected by the all of B.U.s students, parents, and facility has he was one of the first instructors B.U. brought on board to assist with instructing our students.

Brent Smith was born in Magnolia Springs, Texas and never imagined he would see the world through dance. Following the completion of high school Brent traveled to Atlanta, Georgia to continue his professional dance career. While living in Atlanta, Brent trained and traveled for 7 years and toured many cities including New York and Los Angeles. Brent is a respected Choreographer, Dancer, and Actor and has performed in tours, stage plays, musicals, movies, television shows and more. In 2013, Brent founded his own company titled Groundwork and relocated to Houston, Texas to further expand his organization's reach. Groundwork does multiple shows throughout the year in Houston and Atlanta but is best known for its annual choreographers showcase; that will future B.U. For The Arts in this year’s showcase and we are honored. Brent’s motto is "Come Alive, Live Your Dreams".

Raven Antoinette McGowan
Raven Antoinette McGowan s ew rlean, L nativ. aven began receiving dance trainin t the lovely age of 9 years old at the Carolyn Diecedue Dance Academy and continued perfecting and polishing her craft throughout Middle and High School. Following the completion of High School, Raven utilized the wonderful dance training she had receive over the years and 2013 auditioned for Prairie View’s Black Fox Dance Team. he judges agreed Raven possessed the talent and grit required and Raven was proudly inducted into the dance organization. aven was a Black Fox for a total of 3 years while attending airie e University and further perfected her dance capabilities as she studied dance off the field as well. aven has received training in multiple areas of dance including Ballet, Modern, Jazz, & Majorette. To this date, Raven works closely with the Black Foxes on multiple fronts and choreographs field shows and more for the team as a proud Alumni member. Raven states, "becoming a Black Fox allowed me to think outside of the box and molded me as a performer as well as a team member. Dancing on a collegiate level pushed to me to continue to better my skills and to try things I once told myself i was not able to do. Not only was it about the glitz and the glam, but being a Fox played a huge part in the BOLD woman I am today".

Charmain Taylor is former military brat, which granted her the opportunity to live in multiple cities throughout the United States as well as Western Europe (The Netherlands). Recently, Charmain relocated to Houston, TX from St. Louis, MO. Chairman has been perfecting her dancing craft since she was a young child and has broadened her dance experience by remaining involved with a Bachata Fusion dance team that fuses multiple genres of dance. Likewise, she further broadened her dance talents by choreographing dances for bridal parties, Quinceñera’s , and also by creating some of her very own choreography for her Zumba classes. It is important to mention that several years back Charmain began gaining weight and no longer felt comfortable in her own-skin. With that, she set out to find a fun way to lose weight and feel better, which led her to begin instructing Zumba Classes. Charmain states, “The reason is simple: Every single class feels like a party! You don’t need to know how to dance-just move and follow the rhythm. Being able to see people having lighthearted fun and witnessing the changes in their bodies is beyond rewarding. Zumba is a great way to have fun, meet new people and your fitness goals all while dancing. Come try it, I guarantee you will have a blast! I look forward to meeting you”!

Loren Holmes is a Beaumont Texas native who trained at The Art of Dance. She moved to Houston where she received her Associates in Arts with a Dance Specialty. Professional companies Loren has worked with include Urban Souls II and Statements Dance Company. She is currently with Sonkiss'd Dance Theater who has performed in many cities including New York and throughout the Houston and surrounding areas. When Loren isn't performing with the company, she is doing work as a dance instructor at Allegro Academy of Houston and J. Dance Company and taking advantage of freelance and instruction opportunities. Loren recently joined the B.U. for the Arts Dance Instruction Professionals Team to instruct workshops and classes. Loren states, “my passion for dance is what drives her each and every day".
